Poetry #88
(published Mid-year, 2002)
Crocuses Are Coming Up
by June Warden

Crocuses are coming up
in the March mud.
The

Midwest thunder storms
are beginning.
Black-light purple

and the yellow moon
help the mind
foliate the still barren
trees with an odd admixture

of light. Although it's
before spring, we've
been teased by the growth

spurts of global warming.
Something should flower.
So the sky synapses

give us this,
an idea in the chemical
transmitter
of rain.
