Poetry #84
(published Early, 2002)
Alevas Hotel
by John Sakkis

I. The air smelling
acrid, the bathroom
door is open
the shower floods,
neither of us
has long hair,
except at
the tip
of my spine
which I shave
without water.

II. A cheap wine
from Polygyeros;
"Maison Tsantali"
bought without
mentioning the rough
toilet paper stuffed
neatly where a
brown cork should
have been.
