Poetry #528
(published March 3, 2011)
Field Trip
by Jonathan Hayes
i saw someone dying
today on market street
by saint anthony's homeless shelter

right on the corner by the parking lot where i buy my drugs

my dealer watching from his wheel chair
with deft thrill and attention

as the police officer tried to pump the victim's chest
and resuscitate them

i then curtly crossed market street
to the nude dance cinema

Jonathan Hayes's latest book is T(HERE).
