(published March 10, 2005)
Lightning Bug
by Foster Dickson
It takes more than lightning to bug me—
You may be electric,
but I'm laying low.

The Southern summer brings them out—
only when it's hot,
and the light is dim.

Little flashes of fleshy incandescence
may attract curious boys,
but I've seen it all before.
